PURPOSE
This rule establishes policy regarding adjunct or part-time faculty members at Hillsborough Community College (HCC). In this rule, “adjunct” refers to part-time faculty members rather than full-time faculty members teaching during the summer sessions.
RULE
Adjunct or part-time faculty members include the following employee categories:

Faculty, part-time credit teaching (instructional)

Faculty, part-time non-credit (instructional non-credit courses)
-
Faculty, part-time non-teaching hourly (non-instructional)
The President is authorized to hire on a part-time basis an instructor who has been previously approved by the Board of Trustees within the same academic year. Adjunct, part-time, or non- full-time instructional personnel at Hillsborough Community College will not be a party to the contract between the Board of Trustees of Hillsborough Community College and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of Hillsborough Community College.
The College will develop and maintain administrative and operational procedures for adjunct faculty members. Part-time faculty will be available to students as outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
