PURPOSE
This rule establishes policy regarding the handling of third party grants, scholarships, loans and related forms of student financial aid at Hillsborough Community College.
RULE
Hillsborough Community College may accept and administer scholarships and endowments from the government, private individuals or outside agencies. College often serves as an intermediary between governmental agencies, lenders, service and fraternal organizations, and other external public and private agencies who provide the institution's students with grants, scholarships, loans and related forms of student financial aid. The College President or his/her designee is authorized to accept and administer funds from third parties provided that the funds are to be used by the recipient to pay for the cost of his/her education in order for him/her to attend the College. The College President or his/her designee will take appropriate measures to ensure that the College does not accept funds from any agency that is known to discriminate on the basis of race, sex, age, national origin, religion, disability, marital status or sexual orientation.
Grants, scholarships, loans and related forms of student financial aid funds that are accepted by the College on behalf of its students will be administered in accordance with federal and state laws, the granting agency's requirements, generally accepted accounting principles and sound business practices. To assist the College with administering the College's financial aid, all third party grants, scholarships, and loans will be reported to the District Financial Aid Office, so that a student will not receive more than they are entitled to from the College.
