Requires affirmative action be taken to employ and advance qualified women and minorities and prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, and national origin in federally assisted programs.
Requires affirmative action be taken to employ and advance qualified veterans and disabled veterans and prohibits employment discrimination based on veteran or disabled veteran status in federally assisted programs
Requires affirmative action be taken to employ and advance qualified individuals with disabilities and prohibits employment discrimination based on a disability in federally assisted programs.

On May 6, 2020, the US Department of Education released new regulations regarding how colleges address and resolve complaints of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence and stalking. In response HCC has developed a new Administrative Procedure to address the new regulations for sexual harassment. HCC will continue to use other procedures for conduct that does not meet the new regulations, as well as for other discriminatory conduct under Title VII.
The Title IX Sexual Harassment Administrative Procedure addresses reports of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking incidents that occur on August 14, 2020, or after on an HCC campus or at an HCC owned or controlled location or educational program or activity within the United States. This Administrative Procedure will implement the new Department of Education Title IX regulations.
We are continuing to work on best practices for implementing the new regulations and will be sharing an updated version for comments by the HCC community. A districtwide task force is continuing to work on this procedure and others related to the new Title IX regulations. HCC will also be implementing new required training. Additional information will be shared and periodically updated for faculty, staff and students during the Fall term.
Prohibits discrimination of individuals who serve or have served in the uniformed services and ensures that those who serve their country can retain their civilian employment and benefit. It further requires employers to make reasonable efforts to accommodate the disability of a disabled veteran.
