Dance Performances

HCC Dance Program

HCC Dance provides a strong foundation in dance technique, creativity, and performance in a community dedicated to the development of dancers. We are committed to integrating artistry and scholarship in dance—while meeting the needs of the individual student.

About HCC Dance Performances

HCC Dance program proudly produces several dance concerts each year. Performances offer the community an opportunity to visit the campus and experience dance on stage. Our program welcomes guest artists from around the world to perform in our Visual and Performing Arts Guest Artist series. In addition, we showcase top-notch student talent in our department each semester.

Forty years as a practitioner of the form, an aged Breaker will set out far beyond shallow waters in search of “The Big Fish.”

Skiff is a new, evening-length work featuring Raphael Xavier and 2 guest dancers Micah "Spadez" Spader and TBD. Raphael Xavier conceived and directed Skiff in which he contextualizes his journey through the lens of Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea,” and Winslow Homer’s iconic painting “The Gulf Stream.” Created with original text and spoken word that is interwoven with Hemingway, Xavier draws parallels between the fisherman’s search and his own journey to build a dance career utilizing the art form of Breaking. Skiff features elements practiced by Xavier, merging storytelling, spoken word, and Breaking.
