Hillsborough Community College has partnered with SAGE Truck Driving Schools to offer a truck driver training program at the Plant City Campus. The 160-clock-hour program is designed to train students for the Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) exam.
According to the American Trucking Associations, the trucking industry has a current shortage of more than 48,000 drivers. If current trends continue, the trucking industry could face a shortage of more than 175,000 drivers by 2024. A career in commercial truck driving offers

Program Overview (160 Clock Hours)
Students can begin a new career in commercial driving in as little as 28 days. SAGE is nationally recognized as one of the best truck driver training schools in the country and has trained thousands of students based upon a curriculum developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The program is designed to meet the needs of students with no prior knowledge or experience in truck driving. The 160 clock hours consist of 114 classroom hours and 46 hours of one-on-one drive time with experienced instructors.
In addition to the curriculum, the truck driver training program works with state-of-the-art equipment used by today's national trucking companies. SAGE also offers lifetime career placement assistance through its extensive relationships with recruiters from national trucking companies.
