Inclusive Access

Inclusive Access is a program used to provide students with access to digital course materials.  Instead of having to buy the books and other materials separately, all the course materials are provided electronically through Canvas on the first day of class.  You don't have to worry about selecting the right materials and everything is provided at a discounted rate from traditional textbooks and materials.

All students in an Inclusive Access course will receive a welcome email before classes begin. In some cases, this email will have an access code that you will enter once you log into your Canvas account. In other cases the digital content and platform will be integrated into Canvas without the need for a code. Please refer back to your welcome email or contact your instructor for more information. 

If you are receiving financial aid, the charge will be deducted from your account. If you pay tuition by cash, check, credit card payments or the Tuition Installment Plan (TIPS), the Inclusive Access fees will be included on your statement and can be paid directly to the Cashier's Office with your tuition payment. 

All students in an Inclusive Access course will have a trial period of digital material.  Before the trial ends, you will be prompted to decide to "opt-out" of the program for the remainder of the semester.  If you opt-out, all online content is removed from Canvas and you will not be billed for the materials. You will be responsible for securing your textbooks and course materials elsewhere. These materials will be more expensive than those offered through the Inclusive Access program.

Yes!  All students in an Inclusive Access course will have access to the digital materials for a least the first week of classes.  If you decide the program is not for you, you must "opt-out" by the deadline and the materials will no longer be available after the trial period and you will be responsible for purchasing the course materials separately through the HCC Bookstore or the online platform of your choice.

If you have a financial aid credit after tuition and fees, you can still utilize Inclusive Access! The charges will be applied directly towards the credit and any remaining funds will be refunded to you.   This is comparable to purchasing textbooks in the bookstore.

Absolutely! Students can pick up a copy of the book in the bookstore at a discounted rate (typically $30-$45). *Please note the purchase is the book only. It will NOT include the digital content that is required for class. The book option is for students who do not exclusively want to use their computer for assignments such as chapter reading.

A limited number of courses offer Inclusive Access.  Inclusive Access eligible courses are noted on the HCC Bookstore website under the "Select Course Materials" tab. Due to the positive feedback from students and faculty, we expect to add more courses each semester.
