Visiting (Transient) Students

Apply online to HCC through Florida Shines. Please Note: If you are using Florida PrePaid it is recommended that you also complete an HCC Undergraduate Application to ensure your Florida PrePaid benefits are applied.

After submitting your application, you will receive an email notifying you of your next steps, including information on setting up your HCC Login. Your HCC login is what you will use to access HCC online services like the MyHCC Portal, where you can check your Hawkmail email and register for classes. Visit the Student ID and Account Management page for step-by-step instructions. 

Official transcripts are not required as a transient student.*

*Upon review, you may be required to provide transcripts to show prerequisites for course registration.

Please Note: Courses with corequisites require you to register for both the course and its corresponding corequisite, i.e.  BSC 2085 and BSC 2085L.

If you are not using Florida PrePaid, transient students are required to pay out of pocket to the host institution and seek reimbursement from their home institution. 

A Florida Resident Discount is available for students who are classified as an in-state Florida Resident. Students will be admitted as non-Florida residents until documentation to prove Florida Residency is submitted. Check out our residency page to find out what documents you can submit to prove Florida Residency.

We will need a letter or form from your home institution approving your transient status.  The letter must include the approved equivalent HCC course prefix and number (ex. ENC 1101) and the term you are approved to take courses with HCC. The letter can be submitted to any Admissions and Registration Office or emailed to admissions@hccfl.edu.
